The Le Tigre (the polo shirt makers, not the band) street campaign posters feature a tiger attacking and ripping a crocodile hide. Luckily for the poster, both animals are in the same pose as their logo counterparts.
Left shot gives better idea of the posteriness...right shot demos composition. Alas, the Palm Zire 71 camera is something quite short of breathtaking.
A return to what Le Tigre did best; de-position La Coste, or as el tiger's website says, "France's reptile...Sported by American icons such as Ronald Reagan, Wilt Chamberlain...and LL cool J, Le Tigre is worn today by YOU!"
We're American! We're gonna brat you up, backdoor style! Rar!
Let's think about more 70's retroism, the oil crisis, and another brand icon, Exxon's "Put a Tiger in your Tank. From the Exxon site: "In the aftermath of the Arab oil embargo of 1973, the world began to focus on the importance of energy conservation. Esso marketers realized this serious issue deserved a more serious symbol than a cartoon. In 1975, Esso marketers in Britain introduced the first television ad featuring a real tiger "in the fur" to depict strength and reassurance. "
The posters likewise depict a real tiger "in the fur" in support of a cartoon logo, though still with a comic bent, though with topical undertones and coupled with anti-France undercurrent, appealing to USA 20's in-your-fascism-faceism...Yeah yeah, but when you see Lacoste's website full of floating skinny cutey people pictures, you see why the brand is ripe for a tumble.
And the posters are cool.
