Maybe BDDP & Fils only hires right- nostriled people - the secret to their success? Irregardless, they won't be the most creative next year if they keep cokeing. Oh wait, it's voted most creative, perhaps they're very generous...

Don't Discriminate

If you didn't get a chance to celebrate World Aids day, here's an excellent entry by Arvind R. of India for  Zonta Club of Madras. Not discriminating against  HIV  victims  seems to  be a theme this year but I feel this  execution is more  effective than the "We  All  Have AIDS"  Kenneth Cole initiative. Maybe because this metaphor doesn't break down and KC's does once you remember you don't have AIDS.

Magazines Continue Futile Efforts at Long-term Relevancy

In 100 years the only extant magazines will be the ones providing cheap insulation for our DIY nuclear bunkers. I'm going to use Cricket, but just for the articles, okay??? In spite of this, the Magazine Publisher's Association will wrap seven of their most popular magazines with futuristic glossy covers sporting coverlines FROM THE FUTURE! e.g. “Yes It’s True: Films Were Once Projected Instead of Ingested” and “Motherhood Update: Why Some Women Are Still Carrying Their Own Babies.” These special magazines are being distributed to the nation's advertisers and marketing leaders in a desperate attempt to convince them that in spite of flagging distribution and exponential fragmentation that magazines are still relevant and will continue to be so, even though they're not so much and definitely won't be much at all. Thanks to Adverblog, found a fourth execution of the "Let the Beast Go" campaign. That's what happens when you get the material direct from the agency instead of being a bottom feeder suckerfish like The Spunker. Hey, maybe they could use that animal if they decided to do this for Durex female condoms.

Oh dear. Humo magazine will give away free Durex condoms in its next issue and has decided to go buck wild about it. The following print ads appeared and this commercial was created, all by Mortier Brigade, a company whose motto is "confuse and conquer."  Does "Extra Tintelend" mean extra tingly? Call me a prude but none of these are sexy. Is that a beaver on that girl's bum? Maybe they just have sex differently in Brussels. Like inside piles of sticks. Via Adhunt.

Ad agency The Gate placed this ad in Monday's New York Times. Snarky comment #1: They're not as transgressive as they think they are. #2 Maybe they should should shoot the sacred cow called "starting many sentences with conjunctions is exciting." Dead. And with a gun. Or worse.

Dear Ketel One Maker:

At first I despised the Ketel One campaign, finding its tone pretentious, the profusion of white space, befuddling. Then I saw, "Dear Ketel One Drinker: Someone once described our product as "class in a glass." And they say poetry is dead" and laughed. Of course, I was half-in-the-bag myself and riding a bicycle through lower Manhattan, but got to me still it did. I chuckled again on seeing, "Dear Ketel One Drinker - Hello again." I appreciate the break in the tight tenor of the earlier executions and their self-deprecating acknowledgment of their ad's pseudo-creepiness. I also appreciate free samples sent to bloggers for reviewing purposes. "Dear Ketel One Maker: I take mine neat."
